Introduction

The school and pedagogy have gone through a centuries-old historical path. Along the way, pedagogy gradually turned from a sum of ideas and concepts into a science. Positive pedagogical ideas were often lost, and then revived, but in a different guise. The development of educational institutions was a diverse, contradictory and ambiguous process, the level, scale and results of which became more and more significant over time.

Turning to the history of pedagogy and school makes it possible to better understand the course and results of interaction between society, on the one hand, and schools and pedagogy, on the other. There is a system of knowledge about how schools and pedagogy reproduced communities and civilizations, how acquired cultural values were consolidated in the field of education and training. The idea is being formed that school and pedagogy have always been a noticeable (though not the only) engine of cultural and social evolution.

Studying the history of schools and pedagogy helps to master the modern science of education, provides valuable and irreplaceable knowledge about society and man, about the origins of today's global pedagogical process.
