The resubmission is an amended version of the original assessment. I have removed Parts 1 and 3 and retained Part 2 only for this resubmission. Here is my advice:
Please read the reassessment brief and marking criteria in detail and carefully – this will ensure that you know exactly what is required. Do not assume that it is exactly the same as the original Part 2 assignment – I did make changes to reduce some ambiguity in the case study and create more clarity.
Please read through the marking criteria and indicative weightings section – this has been designed to ensure that you have clear guidance on what is expected in your assessment. You can use the marking criteria and weightings as a guide to check that you have done what was required.
Please check the reassessment brief for the suggested structure of your report (it’s not a traditional essay) – this gives you clear sections and within that you can use sub-headings as you feel appropriate. FYI - the word count is 5,000 words.
I am expecting to see sound academic referencing and links to theory/literature throughout your work. Please look back at the unit content and suggested reading etc. to guide you. You can also use the university e-journal listing to search for appropriate sources to support your work.
Linking theory to practice is a key part of the case study – i.e. when marking I would expect to see that you have understood the issues raised in the case study AND been able to link them back to theory/models/research in order to bolster the discussion/analysis throughout your work.
Consider the case study on multiple levels – e.g. there are individual leadership issues but there will also be team and organisational issues or implications. Good reports will show that these multiple levels have been considered in discussion within the main body of your report and in the recommendations.
This reassessment is not scientific in nature - it is about showing that you can take a critical approach to analysing the case study and can then make clear and appropriate recommendations relating to the case study. You are still working at Level 6 and therefore we allow you to develop your own arguments and analysis based on your view of the case study - these must show depth of understanding, be well supported by your reading and show ability to critically analyse.
Recommendations (come after the conclusion). The conclusion summarises the report clearly and then the recommendations come straight after this. Recommendations can be for individuals, the team and/or for the organisation as a whole. It is also useful for you to support (some) of your recommendations with sources/theory/models/other organisation’s practices as appropriate to give them extra weight.
Try to keep thinking critically throughout – i.e. go beyond what is happening (descriptive) to thinking about why it is happening, what impact it might have, what the implications are if this continues, and what could be done about it. Also, keep thinking about what your reading/theory/models tells you about these issues.
