 I.1. If you try very hard, you can master any language. 2. If you want to master any language, you must know at least three thousand words. 3. You will improve your pronunciation if you read aloud every day. 4. Time will be saved, if one uses a computer.

 II. 1. If I had the time, I should help you to solve the problem. 2. I should translate the article without difficulty if I knew English well. 3. If I were in your place, I should learn to speak English fluently.

 III. 1. If you had attended preliminary courses, you would have passes your examination more successfully. 2. If he had not been busy, he would not have missed that conference. 3. If the manager had had this information before, he would have acted differently.

Ladies and Getlemen.

A lady, who was travelling by the train, took a seat in a compartment where a man was smoking one cigarette after another. “If you… a gentleman ,” she said after some time, “you……stopped smoking when a lady entered the compartment.” “ If you……a lady,” he answered, “you ……entered a smoking compartment.” “If you……my husband,” the lady exclaimed, “I……..give you poison”. “If I …. your husband, I……..take it”, was the reply.
